Penguin Book Cover: More book cover mock ups

I decided to do colour mock ups of each cover that I like and that think could make for an interesting cover. Although I like this one, I think it needs more detail or something more interesting added in to in to make it stand out more.

So, I decided to include the silhouettes of the two main girls, however, this kind of cover style could end up looking redundant and too similar to the original cover. I do think it's an improvement of the first cover idea though.

Because I wanted to create a different idea to the previous cover I decided to use one of my initial sketches of a chalk outline to create a book cover. So, I recreated the chalk outline to look more like Miss Bell and I positioned it on a full cover. I also created full body silhouettes of Hazel and Daisy. This looks very similar to the original cover and I don't think I should use them just on their own.

Here's the full body cover in a bigger size. Although the front cover is interesting. I do think the back cover is lacking.

Then I decided to include those silhouettes of Daisy and Hazel to see if that would make the cover more interesting. It didn't, it actually makes the cover look strange and in cohesive.

So decided to incorporate two ideas I had of the cover. The chalk outline and the extended shadow. While still having Daisy on the back cover. Although this makes more sense I still don't like how it turned out.

So I decided to take out Daisy and extend the shadow even more. Although this looks better, it still looks strange and confusing.

Here's a version with a lighter background that looks more playful than the original background used.

Because I wanted to make the book cover stand out more I decided to try to change the colours in the cover. I decided to go for a red background and a black body first to see what it could look like.

Then, I changed the body to the blue. However, I don't think either of these colours were very successful.

I then changed the background to blue and kept the body black.
Then I changed the body to red. Overall, I'm glad I tried to do more exciting colours. But I'm not too sure whether they work well for this book and story.
