Children's Book: Pages separated

Image
Here are all of my pages on one document. As a collection I think they all look interesting and have a similar theme throughout each page. I am not sure how to print these off correctly however, I will email the print bureau and see if they can help me.

Children's Book: Edited Pages

Image
I changed the gradient underneath the text to be extended across the page the make it look more natural. I also added shading on the back of the orangutan. I think adding more shading has given the illustration dimension.  On this page I decided to take out some plants on the right page to make the text clearer. I left the bush in place and I think it looks clear and it's easier to read.  I took out the tree trunk on this page- similar to the page before, so that the text is more readable and clear. It looks more professional and draws your attention on the characters.  On this page I made the Rhino a lighter colour. This is because on the following pages it also has a blue tint.  I took out some of the foliage on this page to make it clear. Similar to the other pages. As I have said previously it looks so much better.  I made the bushes next to Rhino a lighter yellow so that the ground didn't blend in with the water. It adds more contrast and brings out ...

Children's Book: Full Colour Illustrations (meant to be posted before finished pages)

Image
This is a huge improvement made from my previous illustration I created for this page. I think this shows off the amount of devastation that has been caused by the rumbling. I also added a red circle and cross on to Tan's tree to show that it's the only one left. I think the tire tracks and the fade grass also looks effective too.  In this illustration, I wanted to show Tan, Rhino and Hornbill working together and leaving behind the trap left for Hornbills prey. I like this because it shows that in this section there are still trees and vegetation around. It also uses bright colours to represent a hopeful feeling.  Here's a full page spread. It looks effective and colourful. The perspective looks great. However, the colour of the water could be altered to look brighter.  This illustration is exciting. However the tree in the background looks too distracting. I will need to add a gradient there to make it less messy.  This is a great illustration. However towards the ...

Questions and Sticker Sheet

Image
Here's the improved question sheet, The boxes are lighter so that when you write the answer, it is clear. I want the "Question" "Answer" and "Write first letter here" to be faded in to the background and only legible if you're looking at it. This is to make this page look less wordy than it actually is.    Here are the final outcomes of the sticker sheets. I think the title looks great and so does the subtitle in purple. I think the purple boarder around the stickers creates a framing and draws your attention on the stickers.

Children's Book: Pages (meant to be posted after "Full Colour Illustrations")

Image
Here are a few screenshots of my pages so far. I will make some alterations throughout. Such as spacing on a few pages.  Not sure about the illustration on the left. I might just change this to a bush, without the branch. This is because it is a bit harsh on the eyes.  Again, in this one the darkness looks like the ground is scorched. I think I should extended the gradient on to the other side with Tan.  This gradient doesn't look as bad. However, I could take out the trunk and the bush to make the wording, just a little bit clearer.  This perspective is completely off. the trunks in the foreground look way too big in comparison to the Rhino. I think I will take these out of the illustration altogether.  I made the water a brighter blue on this image. This was to complement Tans colouring and to contrast with the green grass.  The trees in the background look distracting. I will change this to make it look part of the illustration and not out of place,...

Illustrated Trail: New Map

Image
I knew I wanted the map to be brighter. and more colourful for my final piece. So I decided to change the whole of the map entirely. I am really happy with my decision to do this overall. The purple and the blue compliment each so well and when I include the icons, it will make the whole map look more together. I also made sure every line was straight and in line with the opposite.  I really like how this has turned out. I changed the stickers as I thought the heads tied in nicer with the icons on each number. I also added in a purple boarder. However, I think this looks a bit odd. However, as a whole I'm proud of the improvement and will be using this in the degree show.  This blue is nicer on the eyes and makes the image as a whole more blue. This is something I wanted to do so that all children will want to have this on their wall.

Illustrated Trail: Life size cutout

Image
Here's my first mock up of the life size Perseus I want to use. However, I think the legs not being level will look odd on the wall. So halfway through designing this I decided to change the perspective.  Here's the new version of Perseus. I much prefer this and he still looks exciting and he looks happier. I think his hair flowing to the side is also a nice touch. His feet might be too small for this unfortunately. However, that is an easy fix I can't to use him in the degree show.

Children's Book: Making a Pattern for the Front Pages

Image
At first I decided to draw the plants and vegetation that are throughout the book, then I needed to turn it into a pattern, so, I divided it in to 4 and added extra illustrations. This started to look crowded however, I decided to carry on.  Then  I duplicated this layer for times in a square and then replicated it for the other page.  As you can see it still looks crowded and harsh when it's in full colour. So made the opacity lighter. This made the pattern easier on the eyes however, I still didn't like the outcome.  So I repeated the process with bright colours and with less plants.  Overall, it turned out so much better- even in full colour. I think it will be a nice addition to the book.  Here's the pattern with the opacity taken down. I think I prefer this to the full colour and I will be using it in my book.

Children's book: full colour illustrations

Image
Here's an outcome to the page where Tan meets Rhino for the first time. I like how Tan is looking from behind the trunk in the background and in the foreground is Rhino. I also like how you can see some twigs and branches on the floor that Tan will use on the next page. The perspective is good and in the background you can see some of the jungle has been left alone.  Here's an interesting spot illustration of Rhino and Tan. It's fun while still forwarding the story along. In this illustration I wanted to show Tana and Rhino looking happy and building a bond. I think the bright colours used and the simplicity of this spot illustration is really effective in representing that.  Here's Tan and Rhino heading on their journey. I wanted the perspective of this to look interesting and  showing that they are having fun.  This is one of my favourite perspectives and pages so far. It has all of the characters on the page and interesting typography. I had a lot of fun cr...
