Illustrated Trail: Foldout map- Outcome

Image
Here's a few photos showing the final outcome of my maps. I'm very happy with how they turned out. I think the bright blue mixed with the yellow-gold looks great and it really focuses your attention on the map as a hole.  The front cover looks just as effective. I'm really happy with the overall colouring and the perspective. However, I think during the printing process you do lose some definition in the background.

Illustrated Trail: New Signs and Vinyl Stickers

Image
These are the signs I have recreated to a bigger size. This is so that when I print them off A2, they won't lose the quality. Every illustration you see on these signs have been re drawn to look sharper. I used a new technique while creating these and I think you can definitely tell the difference between these and my original signs.    I also decided to re draw my life size cut out of Perseus, this is mainly because I think he could be more interactive with my work. So to make him more interactive I drew him with a telescope and looking up at my artwork.

Children's Book: Vinyl Sticker designs

Image
For the first of the vinyl stickers I want to have on display for my degree show, I knew I wanted Tan and Hornbill together, so for this spot illustration I took out the background and added extra detail on the ants. However, I did keep the bushes in place. This was because without them it looked sparse and 2D.  Similar to the previous spot illustration, I took out the background and made the exclamations around rhinos feet yellow. This is so that it would be clear- if I kept it white they would blend into the wall.  For the top section of my wall, I will be adding in vines, Tan and Hornbill just to make sure none of my work looks sparse or out of place.  Here's an example of how the characters would look. I think this will look really effective above my artwork and I am excited to see the outcome!

Children's Book: Pages separated

Here are all of my pages on one document. As a collection I think they all look interesting and have a similar theme throughout each page. I am not sure how to print these off correctly however, I will email the print bureau and see if they can help me.

Children's Book: Edited Pages

Image
I changed the gradient underneath the text to be extended across the page the make it look more natural. I also added shading on the back of the orangutan. I think adding more shading has given the illustration dimension.  On this page I decided to take out some plants on the right page to make the text clearer. I left the bush in place and I think it looks clear and it's easier to read.  I took out the tree trunk on this page- similar to the page before, so that the text is more readable and clear. It looks more professional and draws your attention on the characters.  On this page I made the Rhino a lighter colour. This is because on the following pages it also has a blue tint.  I took out some of the foliage on this page to make it clear. Similar to the other pages. As I have said previously it looks so much better.  I made the bushes next to Rhino a lighter yellow so that the ground didn't blend in with the water. It adds more contrast and brings out ...

Children's Book: Full Colour Illustrations (meant to be posted before finished pages)

Image
This is a huge improvement made from my previous illustration I created for this page. I think this shows off the amount of devastation that has been caused by the rumbling. I also added a red circle and cross on to Tan's tree to show that it's the only one left. I think the tire tracks and the fade grass also looks effective too.  In this illustration, I wanted to show Tan, Rhino and Hornbill working together and leaving behind the trap left for Hornbills prey. I like this because it shows that in this section there are still trees and vegetation around. It also uses bright colours to represent a hopeful feeling.  Here's a full page spread. It looks effective and colourful. The perspective looks great. However, the colour of the water could be altered to look brighter.  This illustration is exciting. However the tree in the background looks too distracting. I will need to add a gradient there to make it less messy.  This is a great illustration. However towards the ...

Questions and Sticker Sheet

Image
Here's the improved question sheet, The boxes are lighter so that when you write the answer, it is clear. I want the "Question" "Answer" and "Write first letter here" to be faded in to the background and only legible if you're looking at it. This is to make this page look less wordy than it actually is.    Here are the final outcomes of the sticker sheets. I think the title looks great and so does the subtitle in purple. I think the purple boarder around the stickers creates a framing and draws your attention on the stickers.
