Third Project Idea- Editorial Design
Editorial Illustration surrounding diversity in media.
For this project idea I wanted to design a front cover of a magazine article surrounding the need for more diversity in children's books and media targeted to them. This is because I wrote an essay on this topic and I think this could be something that shows off my range of skills; I can design books covers/stories, an illustrated trail and can create thought-provoking editorial illustrations.Research
This illustration aptly represents the "Lack of Diversity in Children's Books". It shows the children who aren't represented and white children who are overly represented. This infographic is the stye and theme that I'd like my illustration editorial piece to be like. It's playful but also it makes the audience question why there is a deficiency.

This is a similar illustration depicting the lack of diversity. Both of these illustrators work look quite similar and when I create mock ups of my ideas I will have to brainstorm a different approach to the matter.
Here are a couple of illustrations made for the organisation "We Need More Diverse Books" for their website. Instead of showing the lack of books about children, these illustrations are used to promote more books with diversity in. I think this is a more positive way to look at the matter as it shows the children happy and will encourage more customers to buy more diverse books.
