Illustrated Trail: Map Design

Here's the new version of the map for Trentham Gardens. I wanted it to be colourful rather than the pirates map I initially designed. This map equally uses my style along side the style of the original map as well. You will be able to see that on each number there is a different illustration that hints at what the sign is. Although I like the black and gold versions of Perseus and Medusa, I don't think they match the tone of the map. 

So, I decided to experiment with different colours- the first being a royal blue. Although it standouts out when it's on it own, it doesn't stand out when its on the map. It looks hidden and muddied. 

So, I decided to lighten it. It still blends in a lot with the background but it stands out more than it previously did. 

I then went even lighter. I'm undecided whether I prefer this version or the previous version of the characters. I think I might need to lighten the whole of the map for it suit more with the characters.
