Children's Book: Alterations
Page 8 and 9: alterations
I decided to make a few changes to Page 8 and 9. I wanted the trees in the background to be seen faintly behind the canopy to make it look more realistic. When I made the changes in black and white I realised it improved the appearance of the overall illustration and began to make the coloured illustration the same.

Here's some changes I made to the black and white version. I decided I would turn two full pages into two vignettes. This is because I don't want children reading to be confused at whats happening in the page. I want it to be clear there's only two orangutans.

Here's the colour outcome of these pages so far. I think you can tell the difference between the mother and the child. This is because I made some changes to sizing of the orangutans on the page- to make it clear that Tan is the one left out. I think I will improve these images by adding in the rumbling sound in the background to show that it's still present.

I didn't want to make many changes to this final illustration so I decided to just start illustrating in colour. I also decided to include a digger in the background to hint at what the rumbling is. However, I realised when I created this that the green blended in together. So, I needed to make changes.
I added in blues and purple into the tree and I think that this creates depth and adds in more colour. I think a few spaces are sparse and I could add in more plants and foliage. As well as this I will add in the rumbling noises surrounding the digger and in the trees.

Here's some changes I made to this black and white illustration. I made the orangutan look as if he is hanging. Instead of it looking like he was standing on the ground. I think I might add in a few diggers surrounding this image too. To clearly show how this has happened.
