Illustrated Trail: More development
Changing the colour of the the foldout.
Because the map has now got a purple background, I thought it was only fitting for the question section of the foldout to be purple too. I do like how this ended it and I don't think it has made a huge difference to the final outcome except that each page links together.
Re-illustrating previous spot illustrations
I also decided to start editing previous illustrations I had made in the first semester. In the original version of this spot illustration, Medusa's snakes blended into the background. This wasn't the effect I wanted. So, I decided to had a golden glow behind her, to represent fire and to create more depth between her and the soldiers. To improve this further I could make the soldiers lighter to blend into the background more.
For this spot illustration, nothing new was added apart from the columns, I made them look more realistic in the illustration and cracked/broke a few in the background to show the danger. I think this looks more effective than the previous illustration because it looks more realistic and it matches the backgrounds I have previously created.
As well as editing these individual illustrations, I have also edited the rest to make them look more sharp and precise. However, it's only a slight difference which would be hard to notice.
Creating Stickers
I decided that I wanted to create illustrations for the sticker sheet too. I knew I wanted the gold stickers to reference places on the map. I ended up picking out these 4 at first. However, I will create a sticker sheet specifically for weapons and armour as I think this could be really interesting.I also picked out a few of my favourite illustrations of the characters in my collection. Having a variety of stickers could be really exciting for the child to collect at the end.
Here's the characters in gold too. I thought these could be a special edition to the sticker sheet as children will be proud of finishing the trail and having gold and black stickers are even more exciting than just getting coloured stickers.
Another sticker sheet of characters. I think to improve these stickers I could add a title to it and heading. For example; "I helped defeat Medusa at Trentham!" or "I completed the "Perseus and Medusa Trail at Trentham!"
Here's a selection of stickers I had cut out to see how a normal printer would pick up the colours in my illustration. I think I will get these stickers professionally printed off- or use the facilities at Uni to print them off.
